A WALK IN THE SUNSHINE!

The day was beautiful — a sunny, breezy autumn New England Sunday. The walkers began to gather in Bushnell Park, below the golden dome of the State Capitol, around noon. CCAR members had been there since 6 in the morning, setting up the tents, the port-a-johns, making things ready. They had dealt with the fire marshals, welcomed two policemen, several park workers, and an emergency medical team. The Hartford City Council had voted to waive fees for these city workers because of the community importance of the event...
